Above the Law

July 3, 2007 / by liberalfreak

I’m breaking my 3 months of silence because I just can’t get over what a dip-shit president we have.

Yesterday proved that if you are loyal to the president, you are rewarded very kindly. If you take a fall for the big guy, you will be taken care of.

Bush was tough when he decided to invade a much weaker country with no risk to America at all. He refused to grant clemency to a great-grandmother who was convicted of murdering her husband (who abused her) and was executed by the state of Texas. He signed a death warrant for a man who’s lawyer slept through the trial, and had a chuckle about it during a debate.

But Bush has a heart too. He had a lot of concern for Scooter Libby and his family for what they went through. You see, when it comes to rich right-wingers, he has a soft spot for them.

So in a rare act of humanity, the President commutes Scooter Libby’s jail sentence! He said it was too “excessive”. Really?

A Republican judge handed down the sentence of 30 months in jail, which is based on guidelines that we have in place today. There was nothing excessive about it. This is a normal sentence for obstruction of justice. It is this administration that advocates how important it is for federal judges to follow strict sentencing guidelines. That is exactly what happened.

This decision has angered much of the country. But when will we act to bring an end to this type of power abuse that this administration is famous for?

I would suggest flooding the White House with phone calls about this. We on the left have always said that Bush and Cheney believed they were above the law. Now the president has put it in writing. The time to act is now.

It had me ranting too man, Traitors deserve more than 30 months. My guess is they didn't want him to cave in the pin and start spilling how they (Bush and Cheney) told him to out Plame.[COOL]

Let's keep in mind that Libby may not have been the leaker, but he certainly covered it up, which is why the sentence was as light as it was. If someone had actually been convicted of treason, doesn't the death penalty apply?

Judith miller stated in her congressional testimony that Libby told her in a 2 hour lunch meeting. Armitage told Woodward and Novak, and Rove told Cooper from Time. I can provide you links if you like...[COOL]

The lawlessness originates with Republicans subverting the election system neutering law enforcement and corrupting the judicial system.
Neither the Congress nor any other institution will do battle with this Administration or the next [Republican] one.

Shades of Pres. Mr. G. Ford. Watch Bush's paltry ratings plummet even lower. Taking the fall comes with a reward, and you know he'll never pay a nickle of his own cash toward that fine.
